Program Overview

Launched in 2023, Collective Book Club was developed to promote shared learning and culturally relevant literature within underserved communities. The program facilitates structured discussions designed to encourage critical thinking, perspective building, and intellectual growth.

The initiative supports both independent readers and institutions seeking culturally responsive literacy engagement.

Featured Literacy Initiative

Collective Book Club currently promotes the book Flipping My Script by Adrian Alvarado, a Latino actor and author whose work centers on resilience, identity, and personal transformation.

Alvarado grew up in Jersey City during the 1970s, and the book reflects on that era, offering readers historical and cultural context rooted in the local community. The narrative provides insight into identity, environment, and lived experience during that time period.

Through structured discussions, speaking engagements, and school outreach efforts, the initiative seeks to integrate the book into community literacy spaces and educational programming.
